I was so fun because my girls are getting older and can understand the holiday a little better, especially Brooklyn. I ordered a lot of cute Halloween books, which the girls loved! They especially loved the book, "We're Off the Find the Witches House." The book really helped set the Halloween mood.

One Friday, Mike and I took the girls to Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point. It was really fun, but kind of expensive. The girls both cried in the kiddy haunted house. It's amazing how just being in dark place and hearing loud, creepy music can really scare a kid. They both really enjoyed the hayride and slides. The whole excursion reminded mike and me that we need to do more things like that and create fun family memories. I wish I had pictures to show off, but my camera was out of batteries--I was so mad! (we rented a tractor wagon and the girls looked so cute--Brooklyn was holding Kate in between her legs)

One Tuesday night, while Mike was at meetings, we also made balloon bats. It was fun and the girls thought they were pretty cool. They are still handing in my living room.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfbtyA6i3ISd7s6jQ2ZnfhUkuleXDMpVU9n_XCh3XInGNCepuL0YNTh7CyZjdUFQ2Tv0ZPwGRXOK4gflU6tmQqXG34QvUFSSkMJ25FcYNvXF9uryxsf4hj-QcYUjOsIItfBYksi3-ooS_m/s320/100_0878.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401871903236210514" />

On Halloween day, we walked around the mall, went to our ward's trunk-or-treat and then went and saw both grandparents. Brooklyn loved to go trick-or-treating! She knew exactly what to do when she got up to the door. (They practiced it in prescool). It was a fun night, but by the end they were so done with their Care Bear costumes!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0Ayt5eihGOZCDMAk3DcolH939usdbR2x-LVPLj1RgfUL6fzHVAlzvPvmsllLxlSY6mA-HwWkbi-PQGxdEBhYUuJEH7kawURddN8duVpIWkSAqNt7Bim6iJVzyBMxHzFVdFVZ4Nm5XmHKR/s320/DSCN0021%5B1%5D" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401869189795298818" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5JS8lYvFUv19rGiygHM0ioEx5pOACP6acq896ElI02IZE7cdo39asmAEiM0JTqRTMaFczhUeQrK3wX1RIi7DIvdiPXc1xgMEOPrySyOdVDI4kjhMkA9x6KtCFWfCu3JYPuJGVNUYW0sxU/s320/DSCN0036%5B1%5D" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401871024804184194" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXgk3F4ETeAHcR4cKC07mtT3SJqhrDHy0L4ruFx4Aumsh3R383jJ8KgSLDBxbvjuFzoWSSIQpRPfb1rQlOSscOyW4YG8oA7v-FD9SD55wxycSjJLily5bRjjLLB5GJV6HZsO_ZbvLw_Bs7/s320/DSCN0035%5B1%5D" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401871013893753282" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiM3Jy7VUq29yNWzE92gVpYCl87SRydH5uSsijha61xc4u0SA7xrOPC1VL1rCsNueFV59CtTK4ZBYGoee5mZ97SmD_4b2-6nAdZ4FLRGeD0-92VuBv3ib8N6NwUxSXImUSh34NGNQy2gFMJ/s320/DSCN0016%5B2%5D" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401871010137969234" />

Earlier in October, the girls and I were able to fly out to Denver to see my sister and her family and welcome the arrival of baby Addi. It was so good to see my sister and her family! I can't wait for them to come out for Thanksgiving. My sister-in-law just had her baby girl last Tuesday. Cory and Tricia named her Loreli. On Monday, September 14th Brooklyn started having a little bit of diarrhea. I didn't think anything of it until the next day when she started complaining of a stomach ache. I thought her tummy was hurting because she was holding in her poop. But, it quickly became apparent that that was not the case. She became lethargic, whiny, and just not herself. On Wednesday and Thursday night she threw up and then came the ultra watery diarrhea. Everything she ate or drank went right through her. She also had some intense tummy rumblings. When she would sit on my lap, I could feel and hear her insides rumbling. Needless to say, it was pretty painful for her.

Her appetite was basically non-existent for about five days. Mike kept wanting to force her to eat and drink, but I didn't think that we should force her when she didn't feel good. Looking back, I can acknowledge that I was definitely wrong.

Because Brooklyn didn't feel good and because she was so weak due to the lack of nourishment, she would have these crazy meltdowns. After a pretty intense one on Saturday, I was looking at her sleep and I remember thinking that I wouldn’t know what to do if one of my children ever had cancer or any other serious disease. In that moment, it kind of hit me that something was not right with Brooklyn and she really needed to be healed. I immediately went and said a heartfelt prayer that she would be healed. She was not miraculously healed in that moment, but I know the Lord led the way for her to get the help she needed.

On Saturday afternoon during the BYU football game she started to act mentally crazy. She would say these weird non-sense words. Then, Saturday night came, and she had another meltdown. It was at that point that I noticed that she didn't have any tears and her diaper that had been on for hours was completely dry. I called the doctor, and the nurse asked if her lips were dry, and they were. The nurse said that I should bring her in. I went to the afterhours clinic and the doctor decided that she was so dehydrated that she should be admitted to the hospital to replenish all of the fluids she had lost. On my way to the hospital, I was second guessing myself for going along with the decision to admit her. Oh how grateful I am that I decided to go!

When we got to the hospital, they wanted Brooklyn to change into the pajamas they provided. So, I put her in the jammies, which actually looked and felt really comfortable--nothing like the gowns you wear when you give birth. Then, we went into a room and they attempted to put in the IV. Her veins were so flat, due to the dehydration that they had to warm up her hand with a warm, wet diaper. They tried to hook in the IV into her hand, but they couldn't find the vein. They were poking all over in her hand. It was horrible to watch. Then, they tried her arm. They were barely able to hook in the IV there. As you can imagine, Brooklyn had such a hard time. Then, they had to insert a catheter to get a urine sample to make sure she didn't have a UTI. When they inserted the catheter, she was so dehydrated that they could barely get enough urine to get a sufficient sample. They had to push on her tummy to get more. After that ordeal, she just laid and slept in my arms. My mom and Kenzie came down to the hospital. On any other day she would be so excited to see them, but she was so sick and malnourished that she just stared at them, not saying a word.

You would think she would have slept well, but she didn't. She was so tired. The next morning around 6:00 a.m., the nurses came in and said that they needed to get another blood sample because her levels, especially her potassium, were so low. So, they poked her other arm and barely got any blood at all. (I think that nurse doing it was new or inexperienced). When I was finally able to calm her down and get her to sleep, they came back and said that they needed to get another sample because the first one was messed up! So we went for round four! Poor Brooklyn. She never went back to sleep until that afternoon, when Mike came and stayed with her.

After a particularly trying moment when Brooklyn peed on me and freaked out because I had to change her diaper, a nice couple came and gave us the sacrament. The man knelt down on the hospital floor and said the sacramental prayer. In that moment, the words of the prayer really sank deep in my heart. I needed to make that covenant more than ever to be able to have his spirit always with me. It was a cool experience. I hope I never forget it!

On a different note, while Brooklyn was in the hospital, she was on isolation, so she could not have any contact with anyone. However, they allowed us to take her on a wagon ride around the pediatric unit. Thank goodness for that!!!

At about 12:00 p.m. a doctor came and in broke us the bad news that she would probably need to stay another night because she was not eating or drinking. But, thankfully she started to eat and drink and after her nap, the doctor told us that she could go home. We were so relieved! When the nurse came to take the IV out, Brooklyn freaked out because she thought she was going to get another shot, poor girl. Anyways, we are back home and thanks to a drinking chart, much like a potty chart only she had drink water to get a sticker, Brooklyn is back to normal. Well, all except for her sleep. She will not sleep. She wakes up just screaming and won't go back to sleep. When she finally goes back to sleep, she wakes up an hour and a half later. Being sick has really wacked out her sleep schedule! Any suggestions before I literally lose my mind???Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4027261840469598597.post-36870458632058913042009-09-13T14:54:00.000-07:002009-09-13T15:14:43.523-07:00My Girls!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg62t_UxKSPhgUFSLu3e6YDrc6BR7I0k59fVzqzSqULNtEfqgM936Eiedi6ZtB2SZg4iLYGMjVSPE0eoVFe6a9hRwRxKhjU8idQkT1Y1FIBVv-WYoixYRIS5IecFaotah6amQM7U45tejAC/s320/100_0705.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5381078945118265522" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZCvagQ7miorYGhNt0iySPSgIpGku44XcuqMGpCOzvE3KiRJazNLKcmMe5Mwh9JGkJy0yv29W5EvhVtn1sjKjNHhKaNlN0qzuFk1OZBVmSeK4kctAKor4KN50dqWNRBmuYt64ocsu9Uuws/s320/100_0741.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5381078714105492962" />
It has been way too long since I lasted posted on my blog! A lot has happened in the last 5 months. The most eventful thing has been the arrival of our sweet little Kate. She was born on August 7th at 12:48 p.m. She weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. She is honestly the best little girl. She hardly ever cries. She truly does have the best demeanor about her. She was born with a heart murmur, but the cardiologist said that she should probably grow out of it. Mike and I were talking the other day and we just can't even imagine our lives without Kate!

Brooklyn is such a good big sister. She kisses Kate and loves up on her all of the time. Brooklyn fills our lives with lots of laughter! She cracks me up! I love my girls.

Here are some pictures of Kate and our family. (Kate was blessed last Sunday. It was a beautiful blessing. Mike did a great job and Kate looked soooo cute!)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4027261840469598597.post-58451842400345508972008-05-27T12:42:00.000-07:002008-12-11T09:48:34.186-08:00Our Adventurous Spring<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqeX1KoK44OpTdQDmpm4pgrQYhzEXw7xnQSnmbSmp4tSvjfmd2Yi6xFVCgDlQUQw6xbDWDkGh7u2Zz2_iduWmL_rtbM3sWRTJ1hsIo9ytHUB2znUXnLzBITDkD3YLO-nOCXikR6qGN1SUs/s320/100_1017.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5205169486899867778" />

Well, it's almost June and this is only my second blog of the year. I guess you can say "it's about time!" It has been a busy spring. In April, we went to St. George with my family. My sister, Jami, and her two kids flew in from Denver to spend the week with us. It was a blast, except for the fact that Brinley, Matt, and Brooklyn caught the stomach flu and threw up. In St. George, we celebrated my mom's birthday, went swimming, and just relaxed! Next to the condo we stayed in there was a playground and we discovered that Brooklyn loves to swing. She would just sit and swing and enjoy the outdoors.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuWWrtW009py4M-UZSpqsVeH89Gps1KHDDK1SPaTqHI_AbIvuTbznytKT7puSkf5kxHh3MKpwX-GS4jy4Ko6KOoqzMezsaEvKJvxg96vfKWi9XrSQjUv-lalE839C0SZ234hfir5Ud73HM/s200/100_0998.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5205157040084643922" />
(This is at the Pasta Factory in St. George where Mike purposed to me.)

On the 10th of May, my parents let me go with them to Washington D.C. It has always been a dream of mine to go there! Brooklyn came with me and surprisingly, she did great! We went to a lot of the monuments, visted a few museums, and went to Mt. Vernon. We also visited my mom's aunt and uncle a couple of times. The trip was amazing, but we were sure glad to get back to daddy!

Last weekend we went to Franklin, Idaho to visit Mike's Grandma. Unfortunately, Mike's grandpa passed away earlier in the month. It was nice to be up there because Brooklyn and I missed the funeral because we were in Washington D.C. It is always to peaceful to be up there! We had a fun time hanging out with Grandma Nash and Grandma McDonald.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIyQlF2rk4NybLtSS86AntEoXpiDzZuv4AuK-gTiK3I4JQNmLoXDPUvxcf4WSV2gmZ2oOcsrc6piNC3kDnZGGyfMksBQlm9lOHwVkFDGNUy_sKOP7XjRgkMHhZ0J16MrMAvQhVTWiik-8P/s400/100_1047.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5205166970049032306" />
(Mike, Brooklyn, and Grandma Nash)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4027261840469598597.post-16972536792658695852008-02-18T20:26:00.000-08:002008-02-18T20:38:12.134-08:00Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4027261840469598597.post-9824940701697412902008-02-18T19:13:00.001-08:002008-02-18T19:13:37.688-08:00Brooklyn

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4027261840469598597.post-44184614502787402702008-02-18T18:13:00.000-08:002008-12-11T09:48:35.725-08:00My First Blog of the New Year (Finally!)Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brookyn!

Brooklyn has reached a lot of milestones the last couple of months. First of all, she has her two bottom teeth! They are so cute. She is also so close to crawling. She can go from her stomach to her bottom; so, whenever we go to get her from her crib she is sitting up. Oh, and last Saturday Mike went to go and get her from her crib and she was standing up, holding on to the railing! She is growing up. Some of her latest tricks include turing off the light, saying "da, da, da, da," and playing peek-a-boo.

The Good News

We found out on December 15th that we are going to have another baby!
